”Junior Rewilders” is an educational programme focused on rewilding, for primary, secondary, and high-school students. We aim to increase awareness and knowledge base of the younger generations in regards to nature, responsible consumption, and wildlife, to increase the acceptance of the bison and local pride.
Rewilding in schools
We are proud to have developed a close collaboration with different schools from the landscape. We create fun learning experiences for students of all ages, where we focus on sharing knowledge about different animal and plant species and how they are connected. Together we discover how our actions impact the environment and what we ca do to protect it.
Junior rewilders camp
Junior Rewilders camps created as are one week experiences in the Retezat Moutains, where the participants can learn about nature and wildlife first hand.
We collaborate with different partners like Retezat National Park’s team, Rangers Association, Hațeg Royal Trail team, Casa Vulcanilor and others to enrich the knowledge we offer to our young participants.
They learn about how to keep themselves healthy, about geology and fossils, the ecosystem of the Retezat Mountains, the animals, and the activities of the rangers, about seasonal flowers and jams, and many others.
Our aim is to empower young nature lovers to become adults that will respect, and protect nature, and pass on their knowledge to generations to come.
Rewilding competitions
In 2024, in the frame of the ”LIFE with Bison” Project, we challenged the students from the schools in Armeniș, Cornereva, and Teregova to envision how a Bison-smart Community would look like and how can the bison and the humans cand live next to each other in harmony.
Then we challenged them to put themselves in the shoes of a local guide, and create a local experience for foreign visitors. Our goal was to let ouselves be inspired by the places and activities that have a dear place in the children’s hearts.
We were not dissapointed. And in return, our prize for them was a camp where we got to visit together another area of the landscape, and learn more about the nature there, and the wildlife that resides it.
“A good idea would be for students to get involved too. For example, we can organize drawing contests featuring bison or forest excursions to learn more about these animals. In this way, everyone will understand how important animals are to nature and how we can live in harmony with them.”
