Task 2.1 Developing the National Strategy and a Romanian Bison Action Plan
The aim of this task is to work with the National Environment Authority, the National Bison Working Group and other relevant stakeholders to develop the National
Conservation Strategy for European bison and a Romanian Bison Action Plan, which will create the general framework for reintroducing and managing free-roaming bison populations at the national level with the scope to create favourable conditions for a future meta-population in the Carpathian range.

The National action plan for the conservation of the European Bison (Bison bonasus) in Romania has been submitted to the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests for approval by Ministerial Order. The document sets out the strategic directions and measures required for the long-term conservation of the species, the management of existing populations, and the promotion of coexistence between local communities and these animals in Romania.
